  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves analysing data from onboarding journeys to provide insights to stakeholders on how to optimise the journey. Day to day, I receive requests for various data to be extracted which I do by writing a code, and in some cases I will visualise the data in Power BI. I have also had the opportunity to shadow data managers and learn various techniques.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to code in SQL, as well as how to visualise data in Power BI using different types of charts. I have also developed my existing skills in communication through my interactions with colleagues and stakeholders. I learned how to use Adobe Analytics for analysing journeys through different lenses.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. I feel I have a good balance of working in my day to day role and also completing my tasks for my apprenticeship. I feel that this way of learning optimises my learning and I am able to apply what I learn to the context of my job and vice versa.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured and I feel that I have a good understanding of what my next steps are. My mentor is also always happy to let me know what the stages are if I need reminding. The training courses are well organised, as is the pre-course prep that is expected before we complete this course.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very supportive in making sure I have enough tasks that I can apply to my projects as portfolio evidence. They are also really good at ensuring I have enough time dedicated to my off the job hours of learning and that I have a good balance of both parts.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I found the first residential training course really valuable in terms of knowledge and understanding. My Firebrand mentor is very supportive and I receive good communication from him if I ever have any queries. I have lots of courses assigned to me that I can watch in order to extend my knowledge.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is very useful to be able to apply what I learn with my training provider to my day to day role. I have found that as the qualification has progressed I have got more skills that I can put into context and grow my understanding. I also enjoy that I have lots more ideas to put forward and communicate with my team about.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am involved in the culture squad in my wider team. I am the representative for my team and we discuss what is going well, what needs to be improved and our main focus is inclusivity and diversity. This culture squad also aligns with 3 of the 5 values and it enables me to form new relationships within my team. I am also an apprentice ambassador so I take part in lots of volunteering opportunities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • LBG is a great place to work. The culture aligns with my personal values and I felt welcomed from my first day. Every one is willing to have chats with me about their roles and give me advice and offer support which is very valuable. The opportunities for personal development are brilliant and I have felt comfortable working here since my first day.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • Be yourself. This was my priority when I applied and I feel that it is really important. It's also important not to feel that you have to have all the knowledge and qualifications in business or banking because this is not expected of you. What is more important is the willingness to learn and adapt to change.
