  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I lead a small team of Qlik Sense developers and I also have responsibility for process automation and data discovery within the UK Analytical department within Finance

    8/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes - have gained a good understanding of Python based machine learning approaches; forecasting techniques in particular. I've also gained a good foundation in technology leadership and process automation.

    9/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Generally I did. There are always some lectures that are less enjoyable than others however!

    7/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The admin side from my apprenticeship provider was quite haphazard. For example there were some links to lectures (all learning was remote) that didn't get sent out, some upload links for summative submissions didn't work.

    4/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Was given slightly over the required (at the time) 20% of time off by my employer to attend lectures. However this only covered attending lectures - not the time needed to study the material etc (this needed to happen in the evening/weekend)

    6/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Very good pastural support from the apprenticeship provider.

    9/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Has given me a much greater understanding of the more advanced analytical techniques available.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not anything formally provided that I'm aware of

    1/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend RSA Insurance Ltd to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My experiences of working here has been generally very positive with a good supportive relationship from my line managers.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Insurance Ltd?
  • Be prepared, the realities of working in a large, old company very often mean that the data sources and technology available are very out of date compared to what will have been taught at a university.
