  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot in my year and a half, my role is where the most of my learning and development has come from. I've learnt how to resolve countless number different types of tickets that have lead to me being independent in my job. I have also learnt a vast amount from my apprenticeship courses from software development fundamentals to python and secure coding.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've enjoyed the apprenticeship program from firebrand. There have been many challenges along the way. I've completed all four courses available and passed all the tests required. I've also completed the projects that go alongside these. There have been some issues, but the tasks themselves I have enjoyed. My manager at IBM has been a great asset in helping me keep afloat in my apprenticeship.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme from the training provider started of slow and unsure, but soon I understood what was expected from me. As previously mentioned IBM and my managers have been very supportive, that's meant in the occasion things haven't been as organised as I've liked, they've ensured it will get sorted.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I've received a plethora of support throughout my apprenticeship so far. I've had mentors to bounce chat to for extra support. My task manager and foundation manager have both ensured I am keeping up with what's expected of me. My team have also been very supportive allowing me time to do apprenticeship work when needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have had several different mentors and points of contact from the training provider throughout. Everyone's been useful in their own ways, with some being easier to contact and communicate than others. But can't majorly fault anyone who's helped me up till this point in my apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Although my typical day to day role is slightly different to what I've been learning in the apprenticeship, there have been several occasions to demonstrate what I've done. In my projects I have created tools and software that not only hits the criteria for my apprenticeship but will also benefit my team now and in the long run.

  • There have been several major events where I work within IBM that I have attened since I joined. These have all been very well planned and throughougly enjoyable. There are also several different clubs or social activities that cater to most, if not all IBMers. I've enjoyed using the gym at our Hursley location.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I've been extremely pleased with my choice of IBM since the first day I joined. In my team there is an inclusive and positive atmosphere, that makes me want to go into the office as much as possible. It's a job, that provides learning opportunites very consistently, which has allowed me to become increasingly confident in an industry I had no experience in beforehand.
