  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a laboratory scientist apprentice in drug product design at pfizer. My role is to use science and technology to design, characterize and develop drug product formulations from candidate selection to commercial launch. I carry out lab work almost daily, such as screening.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a variety of new skills, such as better time management, a range of new laboratory skills, such as specific job roles on instruments, team working skills and being able to balance work and hobbies more efficiently.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme, I enjoy the work I do and feel the opportunities I am getting are exciting, challenging and rewarding.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well organised, I have a dedicated line manager who I sit near to and have 1:1 meetings with a few times a week and my days are always scheduled in advance.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive good support from my employer, we have frequent check-ins and someone is always around or on emails to help. no matter the issue.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive very good, tailored support whilst working towards my qualification, such as guidance on our 'blue book' and understanding when I have lots of uni work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well, it aligns with my job and gives me more transferrable skills that help me in my role at work, in the lab and with other things, such as volunteering and task management.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of professional networking events, we even have an apprenticeship network! There are always social activities going on, such as bake off or murder mystery.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Working at pfizer brings me excitement every day and is a highly rewarding job. All of my colleagues are amazing, and you really feel part of a team. I feel supported and feel I am being stretched to my full potential!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pfizer?
  • I would say, think of your reason for wanting to work at Pfizer and don't be afraid to stand out. Read into the different departments and figure out what you want to do!
