  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills around strategic leadership. I have also developed a more reflective approach and used journals to review instances or situations that didn't proceed as expected. I have learnt how to use new models around innovation and change management. I have applied this knowledge in my working day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I find the programme really enjoyable, the second year more than the first. It has been very difficult completing most of it via zoom but recently got the opportunity to do a face to face module which was incredibly valuable especially from a networking perspective. It was lovely to see the actual campus

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured. The timetable is shared well in advance, they send meeting invites and agendas are well known along with timings for submission for assignments. The apprenticeship timetable is clearly documented and the EPA process is regularly discussed and any questions or queries are answered quickly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider offers a lot of support. The central team are always available for support and respond to any questions quickly. There are drop in sessions about the programme overall and after each module there is a session before any assignment is due to ensure there are no questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the knowledge skills and behaviours I am developing will give me the confidence to take the next step up the professional ladder and apply for a promotion opportunity when the right vacancy is advertised. My belief in my own abilities has gown exponentially and I have overcome any imposter syndrome.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The group has started organising its own zoom meetings with senior leaders of the company uniquely for those of us on this programme. We get the opportunity to ask any questions. Due to completing this in COVID times we have not had as many networking opportunities as I expected and have not had many face to face meetings.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The BBC is in a unique position as the public service broadcaster. Staff development is important to the BBC and I believe that anything is possible if you are prepared to put the work in and spend time taking opportunities when they present themselves. The world would be a sadder place without the BBC.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • The BBC is open to everyone no many what background you are from or whether you watch the BBC or engage with its content. The BBC is not just about Oxbridge or graduates and diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what is important. You can be yourself and be accepted.
