  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Dominated by admin and metadata exchange, with passing experiences in live studio production.

    1/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Minimal skills of boutique software but not exchangeable to other roles or programmes

    2/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy some of the social aspects of the apprenticeship but this isn't necessarily applicable to the quality of the programme. In terms of both placement and training it has been quite the disappointment.

    1/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Dire, especially in terms of the training.

    1/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive some support from my placement team but this has not really made up for the support needed across the training provision.

    2/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They have been dreadful. I am disappointed and will certainly struggle to fulfil the criteria to pass the apprenticeship.

    1/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It doesn't feel relevant to my role at all at the moment.

    1/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have enjoyed socialising with some other apprentices, but otherwise have been disappointed with the social element of the workplace which has been lacking.

    3/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • It has been run poorly, I haven't felt supported, I don't find the approach sustainable to move forward with and I struggle to believe this can help open doors to a decent working life within the organisation in the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • I would probably advise to reconsider the apprenticeship, or at least to challenge its disorganised nature and poor teaching standards from the beginning.
