  • Undertaking the internal audit plan to provide assurance to the business. The plan is developed on a risk basis and involves completing projects with key stakeholders within the business based upon risk. Projects can take the form of audits or compliance tests. I have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt accounting skills through the qualification I am undertaking. I have learnt skills required in Internal Audit through training programs delivered by the CIIA. The business has developed several internal training courses, which cover a variety of topics. I have developed skills in adapting communication and report writing styles ensuring the conveyed message is understood by the intended audience. I also undertake my own self-development through participating in webinars and reading articles and legislation relating to the projects I am undertaking.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • A supportive business that is keen to develop and promote within. I have had very good support from my Line Manager and feel I can speak openly about any topic. The business has been very good in providing the opportunity for me to undertake this qualification and supporting in developing a well-rounded programme above meeting the requirements.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marston's?
  • Read and understand the business - what it's purpose is. I would encourage people to be honest about your skills, experience and what you can bring to the role but also about yourself. Marston's is a people business. There is the opportunity to grow and challenge, however it is important to understand as well.
