  • Managing the pub and ensuring guest experience is up to standard, ensuring all team Training is complete and recruitment is underway. Maintaining cleanliness and Safety standards to adhere to regulations and giving the team the tools they need to take the pub forwards

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Skills such as counting stock for line checks, full stock counts also. Getting a weekly rota out which takes into consideration people's contracts and ensures these are upheld. Further skills would be understanding how to manage difficult individuals and learning how to manage capacity

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy what I do yes, there are points where it can seem quite daunting with the job as challenging as it can get and the apprenticeship work on top of that. Overall very satisfied

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's very independent, so having the structured meetings is a positive. Otherwise it's very much a case of you learn what you learn for yourself, there isn't much in terms of directed guidance

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As much as they can, sometimes it can suffer because of the demands of the business but there's opportunities to discuss various topics during service, although in this format often the information relayed is not as high quality as it could otherwise have been

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • During the scheduled meetings we go through a lot and I have had significant help during these, so the support from the training provider is definitely there

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It definitely helps me to understand certain aspects of my job, from understanding customer demographics and being able to lead a prospering team to learning the different legislations and regulations in place

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The close support from GMs and AOMs is very good, the attention to detail and care for every site is there for all to see


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marston's?
  • Just to make sure you are applying for a job you want to do, if you havent got the right mentality and attitude you will struggle
