  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is extremely fast paced and requires the completion of daily, weekly and monthly reporting e.g labour payroll and retailer invoicing. I also have lots of adhoc tasks which keeping the business running day-to-day like utility payments. Using Excel is a key part of my daily life.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've developed on my basic Excel skills learnt at university and on placement in order to analyze data from different systems. I now know how to use SAP and PowerBI in greater detail and can run reports through these platforms.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme because it encourages self-development and reflection. It allows me to take a stand back and realize how far I have come whilst also acknowledging the objectives I am still yet to achieve. It's also good to have the extra support.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme could be slightly more well organized from a Kaplan point of view as the process seems to take a bit of time to get up and running however my company have taken a very pro-active approach to this.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a great amount of support through personal check-ins over email and also weekly posts on Yammer. I know who to go to if I have any issues as they have made themselves known to me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They gave me all my resources in a timely manner and there are various ways of asking questions via my personal portal. I have a coach who keeps in contact with me and helps with any queries I have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me to understand what is expected of myself in my working environment and also encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and try new tasks/ask to be a part of new projects.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. We have a bulletin board that allows people to post any activities they are hosting (e.g running clubs, badminton). My team also try and arrange monthly activities such as going out for a curry in order to socialise outside of the office environment.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are especially considerate of the people that work there and make sure everyone is accommodated. I have felt extremely welcomed since working in my team and even external people are happy to help with queries.

  • Be yourself and show your personality! It's always important to be honest about your capabilities so that Marston's can help you grow as an indiviual.
