  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I perform a role alongside the school business manager, which is unique to schools, by supporting administration and managing the financial, site and support services within the school context. Following this, I also provide essential support to the school leadership teams and supporting in other areas by implementing their financial and business decisions as well as drafting and monitoring the school budget, setting up financial controls and reporting on performance to ensure that the best value for money is achieved. I learn and understand areas of payroll, maintaining accounts and financial reporting to the headteacher and governors.

  • My programme is very well structured and extremely organised. This is because I have a flexible timetable in which I can work with different departments in the school to gain more experience and knowledge in terms of what it’s like and adapt my useful skills to help teachers in the school. My transferable skills are extremely beneficial and I feel have had a positive impact to the school.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer as they give regular phone calls to ensure that everything is going well at my place of work. I find this useful as it shows the employee that you are cares about you and knows that you can do well. Occasionally we do zoom meetings and meet with other apprentices which is really fun and we play games and participate in quizzes.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my work set monthly which is completed reflects my entire qualification and overall grade.
