Developed my personal brand through resilience and communication sessions while gaining an insight into their application process. Networked with senior individuals within the firm to grasp the importance of corporate responsibility in such a growing and evolving firm.

  • Learned about the range of service lines and built on my presenting and speaking skills through mock pitches and interview workshops. Further developed my leadership skills through delegating tasks appropriately in group projects whilst enriching myself in the work culture at HSBC by networking with new people as well as senior individuals.

  • Gained firsthand experience on each service line engaging in activities related to audit, consulting, data analytics, operations, tax, deals and cyber security which has given me an appreciation for the variety of service lines HSBC specialises in. This gave me an appreciation for what HSBC do and made me enjoy the experience even more.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • Partook in a business experience in the Department of International Trade (DIT) Investment Services Team (IST) to gain an insight into the operations of the firm whilst having an introduction to OCO Global. This was well organised as it was easy to move between sessions by using zoom and they told you when to go.

  • -Learned about investment management and acquisition. -Gained an understanding about various corporate finance and actuarial roles. -Insight into corporate real estate, risk and audit. -Gained an insight into cyber security and data science. -Partook in various live workshops from employers and engaged with senior members of the firm. This gave me an understanding for the work culture.

  • Introduction to a financial services and various departments within, this enhanced my knowledge of the different industries offerings. -Engaged in a range of planned activities and presentations which improved understanding of the operation of firms. -Networked with senior managers learning about roles within the firm as well as learning about their areas of speciality. This allowed me to make informed decisions for my career path.

Pay didn't matter as much as the experience was important.

  • Make sure you know a lot about the company by looking at statistics on the website and following all the key and relevant updates in the news via TV or newspaper on HSBC to stand out in the interview so it shows you know the values of HSBC and what they stand for.
