  • Apprentice Supervisor. Overseeing deliveries, stocking shelves/freezers. Weekly paperwork, banking and now rotas.

  • New skills I can apply to my role including team leadership and marketing.

  • Have learnt a lot I can apply to my role, especially in the latter part of the course. Allowed me to gain promotion to Senior Supervisor with higher salary

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structure with plenty of time between modules. Even worked well given changed appointments that changed to COVID or work patterns

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Honestly, not that much at all. No hours were allocated in store specifically although I did use my usual shift or own time to do anything I needed in store.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All that I needed. Very supportive and there via call or email if I needed anything.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • There’s a lot I can make use of in my role, and going forward. Also provided me with a good understanding of the business as a whole.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We do regular team meals/get togethers

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Good company to work for. I’ve been supported moving up the ranks and given a qualification to go with it that I can use anywhere.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • Keep an open mind and you get out what you put in. If you’re will to put the effort in, you can go far as as you like.
