  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a day to day basis the work is very varied, it consists of many different job that are either required maintenance to press tools, or break down on press tools, i am always busy and always have problems or issues that need to be resolved. this is the most interesting part of the job.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • while working for the BMW group i have learnt many new skills including, crane work, milling and machining. i have also learnt the ins and out of the basis of how mettle is cut, pierces and form using a press tool, all of which is vital information and skills that are nee for the jobrole i will be going into.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the program is very enjoyable, day to day work is interesting and varied, the program is well set out and the the people that are meet and the knowledge gain through these people is very good, the apprenticeship teem are helpful and solve any issue very quickly without hassle. this is a good program

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the program is very well organised both in terms of the academic qualification that are carried out and the hands on skills that need to be learnt this ensure that i don't have to worry about to much more than turning up and doing my job, obviously there is still a large amount of work that has to be put in but this is rewarding work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i receive all of the support that i need form the employer, ensuring that any issues are resolved quickly and timely as well as academic issue and help is gotten if needed, the is a large team and structure in help of people to help make sure that you succeed to the best of your ability.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • the training provider Swindon college gives me all of the information that i required for my course and they show me where i can find help when i needed it the lecturers are good and organised and ensure that i exceed my academic expectations. they ensure that a good plan is in place for completing academic part of the appentiship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the academic qualification are mainly relevant however some parts of them can feel a bit like they will not be used however this is because the qualification is general engineering and this can be better for if you would like to got to another business and can give you are larger view of engineering .

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are extra-curricular activities put on at work when possible if you want to do them, such as the mountain challenge which is a large scale orienteering event/competition which is put on over the course of a whole weekend, this is challenging fun and allows you to meet many new people.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because the BMW group apprenticeship is well organised and structured, the knowledge that you gain is second to non as well as making a very good groups of Friends and colleges alike. the work is interesting and varied and they focus on how to further you as an individual and your experiences.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • if you like engineering you should just apply for it. one tip is to get as much engineering experience before apply whether this means volunteering at places or doing a Saturday job and sort of mechanics or engineering hands on skill will help you understand what is expected of you.
