  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme and what it provides to me as an apprentice. There is a great work life balance with an earlier finish on a friday. The enviroment is great with a social space and i have made lots of new friends who i enjoy doing social activities with. The workshop is clean and the machinery is new which is enjoyable and aids learning.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On bmw's behalf of the programme they plan lots of activites where possible trying to make everyone involved and to get one another to reach out meeting new people. However, the beginning induction was not well planned with us left to sit without any work to complete for the first week or so and when things were organized we were congested with work and information. Collage work is also slow paced in some place and then congested in others with juggling multiple subjects at once in a single day doesnt allow me personally to soley focus and get stuck into a specific subject. Personally i would prefer to focus on one subject at a time and then once all assignments are completed move on to the following subject. Rating is purely based off collage structure.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • BMW as an employer are great and very supportive with learning and any questions we have they are more than happy to answer them to do with our apprenticeship with an open door policy. During performance meetings they encourage us to speak up and let them know is we have any problems within our day to day life on site.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The tutors employed from BMET try their best with their resources and knowledge to aid us in completing rotations and assessments however the collage itself i feel is unorganized and the progress review arnt very personal as we fill them out ourselves and no questions are asked on a one to one basis.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • When starting my apprenticeship i didnt have much idea as to where my qualification would take me and how it would aid me further in my role as a maintenance technician however after speaking to other apprentices they have helped me understand my future life in the company. I do not believe my training provider in any way has helped me understand how my qualification as a a maintenance technician will aid me further in my career.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes Mini plant oxford provides lots of social groups which help make friends which bring you together inside of work and outside. For example i am in a mini socials groupchat which everyone gives their ideas how the apprentices can get together outside of work doing sports, watching events and going out for drinks.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have enjoyed my experience here so far and have already mentioned my job here to others which interest them how it interested me. BMW provide a great hands on way of learning whilst still in education which i am very fond of. I believe others who love engineering and want to get hands on at work whilst learning then this is a perfect option.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Be honest when applying as your interests are just as important and of course be yourself. Take all chances that you possible can and where questions are asked try to answer them in as full as you possibly can as this provides BMW with more information about you and your social skills.
