  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my job role is within the leakage team at Severn Trent and my job is to find leaks and arrange for them to be repaired. i do this all different areas of Leicester and my/my teams aim is to keep leakage figures down. My activities vary massively day to day. Great outside, enjoyable, interesting job.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely learnt lots of new skills and developed existing ones. I have obviously learnt new job related skills, however i have also developed lots of life skills which i can use on the outside world such as team working, how to deal with tricky situations eg: angry customer.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much have enjoyed my apprenticeship so far, it has been so much better than i ever expected. i always look forward to coming into work and i love the problem solving of the job and the satisfaction you get when you find a good leak or a leak that you have been trying to find for ages.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship that i am on is the first year actually in this job role. To be honest the college side of the apprenticeship should have been tailored to this job role a lot better because quite a few modules have nothing to do with my job role and this has made it a lot harder to try and get my percentage up on one file.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive all the support i need no matter whether it be with my college work, out on site or even a small issue such as needing new PPE. My manager and senior [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] have helped me progressive massively along this apprenticeship. Also my mentors have.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive enough support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications, however when challenging about modules that i physically cannot complete i just got told that it was part of the apprenticeship and that i had to get all of them completed to pass the apprenticeship but i cannot do this.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Most of the training i have completed, i have massively benefited from such as valving, sampling and leakage detection. However, certain training sessions are absolutely pointless in terms of what is needed for my job role and the activities that i complete from day to day. For example wastewater science when i work on the clean water side.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are lots of extra curricular activities to get involved in at Seven Trent, this ranges from sports sessions, charity days, volunteering days. Also, my leakage team manager arranges team days out and a christmas get together where we do stuff such as go karting or even go for a meal.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an amazing company with a great setup and great apprenticeship schemes, Seven Trent offers apprenticeships of a wide variety with great salaries. The support you get is amazing. Also, the share scheme and the benefits of working for the company are amazing. There is great chance for progression in the company as well.

  • Do it! Make sure you have the correct behaviours and come with the correct attitude. Make sure you work hard, give your all and have confidence. If you come with these qualities you will learn the skills of the jobs and have a great ladder of progression in the company.
