  • On a day to day basis i am either providing support to the site engineer on site, or helping the team in the office.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt lots of new skills within engineering, such as surveying, doing take-off's of materials and how to use CAD to a more professional level.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the programme due to the amount of experience i am getting on site.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured due to having set blocks in college and on site, making it easier to get more involved in both areas. There was some confusion before the apprenticeship started about living arrangements whilst at college. But they were eventually resolved.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support and can contact anyone within the team on site and at college and will be able to get the help I need.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get lots of support, whether i am on site or in college. The tutors are very helpful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The college block at the beginning of the apprenticeship helped me to gain basic knowledge and skills before i went to site, meaning i was able to start contributing to the team almost straight away.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Some events are held throughout the year although most have been postponed recently due to covid, so i've been uable to take part in anything.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because its a good career and job opportunity. And the company is very supportive.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Say yes to every opportunity and get stuck in, don't be afraid to get it wrong cause there is no pressure to get it right first time.
