  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Partnering with each Claims department to ensure we maintain and develop technical capability. Building relationships with stakeholders and analysing available data enables me to draw out key priority areas, work with the department in question to identify the most appropriate learning solution and measure impact.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far, the technical knowledge has been focussed upon HR (moving onto L&D shortly) which is quite far removed from my role but has given me increased insight into strategy and use of data/evidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I find the technical detail extremely interesting and was surprised at how much of a link I can see between what I am learning in my own organisation/role. I do find the 20% time commitment unrealistic but I am prepared to work evenings/weekends to overcome this

    8/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I love the way the learning is laid out on Avado. I think Bud is a good tool but do struggle to navigate it sometimes. I was disappointed the HTS task 2 for 5CO01 came with no learning about succession planning, having no prior experience myself.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is extremely interested in how I am finding the programme and is keen to see me succeed. However, as I am the only person in my role, it is sometimes difficult to remove 20% of the role, particularly as this figure keeps creeping up!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • If specifically in relation to the 'qualification', I would say 7 but if overall, I would rate higher as my LDC and the general team are quick to respond and extremely invested. The support is sometimes inconsistent but is still more than I originally expected

    9/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My (new) role is evolving quickly and the L&D element has significantly increased in the last year. This apprenticeship is perfectly timed and I am happy to apply what I learn in real life experiences

    10/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • RSA offer volunteering opportunities in the local community

    4/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend RSA Insurance Ltd to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • A supportive employer with great development opportunities

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Insurance Ltd?
  • Explore development and career opportunities at an early stage
