Helping senior engineers in their day to day tasks, setting out for works, Cad Work, Ordering Materials, Managing and overseeing a small area of Work, Planning, ensuring that all paperwork is in place before works begins, writing and reviewing Method Statements and Risk assessments, help the environmental and health and safety team to make sure that procedures are in place
i have learnt how to set out using various pieces of engineering equipment, i have expanded my knowledge on Cad Software (AutoCAD, Civil 3d etc.). I have learnt about the importance of having all paperwork and legal documents in place. I have leant how to help deliver an area of work on a day to day basis. I have lso been on anum, ber of trainingh course in whcoh i havent learnt how to use more advanved pieces of equipmnet and informational training courses.
I enjoy the programme very much. The balance of University and being in the office/on site is good and I am able to use most of what I have learnt at university and bring it into my day to day work. The support from both the University and Work is also very good
My Programme is very well structured, I have a set day each week where i am University and the rest of the week i am on site. The syllabus at University is given to us at the start of the year so we know what to expect and how we are assessed
I receive a lot of support from my employer. in the office I have a good team who help to develop my skills and help me to learn and grow an as engineer. There is also a wider team who have mentors and people to go to when you have issues.
There is a support team at the university specifically for apprentices. they are able to contact you employer and help to resolve any issues you have. the lecturers and course directors at university are also helpful and help you when you have issues with any bit of work. The university also has you report back on the quality of the support you're getting so they know how to improve it.
Most of what i learn at university is useful for my role. The Cad Unit and the Materials and Geology unit are the most useful to my role as am able to understand how to use elements of these units in my day to day role. I understand that the maths I am doing is very advanced and most of it I will most likely never use but it is still good to know.
