  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is working within the business performance management team, which involves supporting in collecting the data from our 400+ United Kingdom and Ireland sites. As well as this we look after other systems, one being our covid case management tool where every covid case within DHL supply chain has to be logged against.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The main skills I have learnt during my apprenticeship is working with systems such as excel, SQL servers and PowerBi. I will be learning how to use python in the coming months. Learning these skill has really helped me develop in my day to day role as I can use it to my advantage and make my work life easier.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Around every month multiverse hold a bootcamp which is our opportunity to learn new skills. It's generally between 2 and 4 3 hour sessions, all which are done within a week. I enjoy this as it means I can focus on just apprenticeship work for some mornings of a week.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I'd say my program is quite well structured. Having boot camps every month or so, where we have an opportunity to learn a new skill really suits my way of learning. From Multiverse, I also have a coach, who I have monthly 121's with and I can review my progress and chat with her about any areas I may be struggling with.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a great amount of support from my employer. My manager, and colleagues are always more than willing to help me with anything I'm struggling with. We also have an emerging talent team who love to get us involved with the recruitment of new apprentices, and are always there if we need and help or advice - I luckily haven't needed to use them, as my working team are always so helpful.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have monthly 1 to 1 sessions with my Multiverse coach. This is an opportunity to bring up any concerns, work through anything I need help with and prepare me for what is to come. I can use this time to get advice on my coursework, portfolio and more. As well as this, my coach is only an email away if I ever need anything, and I will get a quick response!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I definitely feel as though the qualification I'm working towards helps me in my role. Excel skills are something I learnt on the course, and as excel is something I use a lot daily, this has been a massive help. Also, I am looking to build a powerbi dashboard for work, which I learn a lot of on the course.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Due to COVID, there haven't been too many opportunities to meet up in person with a large group of people but there have been plenty of calls with the whole apprentice/grad group, where we can get to know each other. I am going to meet some other apprentices who are also on my course for a working day in Milton Keynes, where we're holding a PowerBi competition - we have been encouraged to do things like this as it's great for networking! Also, as COVID is slowly coming to an end, we will be receiving invites to some social events where we can meet other apprentices and grads in person.

  • 9a. Would you recommend DHL to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • DHL is an enormous company with so many opportunities! We have sites all over the country which deal with all sorts of customers so it is really interesting to look into where our day-to-day items are made/dispatched from. Also, I am yet to meet somebody who I don't get along with since working here - everybody is so nice, welcoming and helpful and it is a brilliant working environment!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DHL?
  • I would say just go for it! It's a brilliant place to work and the emerging talent team are so welcoming. If you end up on an assessment day, I know it's hard not to be (because I was!), but try to not be nervous and just be yourself.
