  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Health care assistant and support worker Assisting with personal care, administering medication, documenting care plans and records, liaising with other members of staff and health care professionals and family members. Assisting clients when out in the community and ensuring that they have person centred care at all times.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Through completing my apprenticeship in lead adult care level 3, I have been able to update and refresh my skills and knowledge, especially in areas such as safeguarding and the current legislations in place. Have also learnt about holistic care.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship process as it enabled me to refresh my skills and knowledge. It also helped me to fulfil my goals and ambitions of getting a place at university.

  • Programme was very well organised and structured. My tutor kept in regular contact with me throughout the course and provided me with sufficient study work.

  • Employer didn't have much contact with me in regards to my apprenticeship as my employment is through an agency company.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Great amount of support received from training providers. Regular contact with my personal tutor and good study sessions were set up.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Gaining this qualification has enabled me to perform better in my job role as I am up to date with current laws, safeguarding and legislation. Furthered my insight into giving person centred care and also the different approaches.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Their are extra training sessions that we are able to undertake if we wish to do so. Good selection of courses are available and good training providers.
