  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a salon apprentice which involves helping out in the salon everyday! I ensure the salon is kept clean and hygienic, I clean up after every client, I wash clients hair for other stylists and offer them teas and coffees and ensure they have a great experience. I also receive training from my salon manager!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved many skills! One skill I’ve improved most on is communication! Communicating with clients is very essential in the salon so improving this has made the job so much easier and fun. I’ve developed skills such as multi-tasking, maintaining conversation with clients whilst doing their hair creates a more personal experience for the client.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme, I find it very useful to be independent and take a lot of the learning into your own hands like the theory side of it. However, the help is always there when you need it! I have found it very exciting and very easy to use!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised, the educator always shows up on time and is very well organised and professional! The structure of the course is perfect, I find I am learning in a perfect way for myself. I feel I am learning everything in the correct order, helping it all make sense.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive the perfect amount of support from my employer. She is always there if I need help or assistance on anything however she gives me space to try and figure stuff out on my own. My employer gives me all the support I need during this course and apprenticeship!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive so much support from my training provider. She helps me with any problems or issues I have and ensures I am happy with how I’m getting along! I feel she really wants me to pass this course and having people think that makes you want to do better!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The course helps with essential skills I need for hairdressing! However it also helps with behind the scenes situations such as acts in the work place which helps give a better understanding of why we do certain things! The qualification is very essential for my job role and is helps me perform better.

  • Yes, my employer is always holding social events like staff meals!
