Working in the wards within the MDT to provide holistic and appropriate care needs for individuals. This includes; planning, monitoring and evaluating care with each patient and communicating clearly with all teams, including families and patients.
Yes, I have learnt lots of new skills as well as developed skills. Previously in theatre and moved into the wards at the start of this course. Built on a lot of experience, knowledge and skills and adjusted my work appropriately for ward based scenarios.
I thoroughly enjoy this course although there is a lot of work and paperwork to keep on top of as well as working 30hr in the ward.
Mostly well structured throughout. It is well structured within the RD&E staff organising placements internal and external, ensuring that our course needs are met. Each module is a different team which varies in terms of being well structured (Plymouth university staff)
I have good support from our internal tutors (Rosie/Di) and each placement CNM. although, occasionally struggle with the workload and feel a bit lost but manage to gather info and reach out when under control.
Good amounts of support when asked and regular emails checking in and offering help if required, although fortunately I have not needed to use this often
very much.
Yes, although placements are slightly too short to be involved for long.
Yes
Good support and advice Good networking Good education and workplace
Organise time socially in advance and be prepared to say no occasionally. Lots of work and to try and keep on top of it. It can feel impossible to catch up when you've fallen behind. Ask!! No question is silly and everyone willing to help if unsure
