  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I manage an internal Sales team that specialises in finding digital solutions for FE colleges, to allow them to deliver qualifications via online and blended learning. Due to changes in the market, our priorities can change weekly, so we have to be prepared to consider every problem or issue our customers are dealing with

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship I completed, gave me an overall perception of how to start, run and dissolve a company. My experience in business allowed me to challenge the learning situations, however, the course was fast-paced and innovative and I was able to put what I had learnt back into the workplace and in social situations

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme was really good. Each term we were invited to a start of term induction with my training provider. My employer ensured we were given two extra hours a week of study time as well as being offered a mentor and senior management mentor. The apprenticeship team kept in touch throughout the programme and encouraged us to be involved in numerous promotional events.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Pearson is a great advocate of apprenticeships. We were given support from our managers and senior managers and that was rolled out to the wider business, this allowed me to take the time allocated for extra study. I met with my mentors monthly to assess where I was and to offer support and guidance regarding the course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Pearson college made a point of welcoming you as a student. We were given time each week to meet with our tutors on a 121 basis outside of the lectures and seminars. Tutors made it clear that they could be contacted at any time and after I sent an email at 22:00 one evening, I got an instant reply. The guidance and support was outstanding!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I do not think there was anything I learnt on the course that I have not been able to take back to the workplace. I have learned so much and now I have passed some of the knowledge on to my team, who are now proving to be quite dynamic. I have been able to look at previous work processes and change them to be a more efficient employee that gets so much more done each day.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In 2020 have face to face social events was not possible, however, Pearson encouraged managers to create more innovative ways of getting teams together, which I have put into practice. I work closely with Robert Halfon the MP for Harlow in promoting apprenticeships and local job fares and events. I currently volunteer in helping to raise monies for a local charity
