  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I offer business support to my team on a Dailey basis. My roles and responsibilities can change very fast, but my main focus is customer interaction (dealing with requests).

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, my IT skill set has been boosted massively since joining the apprenticeship. I am now able to simultaneously use different databases and IT resources to complicate my personal and professional work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the whole apprenticeship. It has been a great way to meet new people, build a strong knowledge of business administration and it has helped me to clearly see where I would like to be in the future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The over all program was really well structured, I knew exactly what was expected of me. The only reason I rated it a 9 was due to the Rocky transfer of working from Home due to COVID-19

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support offered by the DE&S was more than I could ever wish for. Everybody from my daily team, line manager, talent coach and other members of staff has been outstanding. I haven’t had 1 bad experience with the organisation.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from the training provider has been excellent. My talent coach always managed to respond/ offer guidance on the same day. She always took the time to explain where and how I could go to receive the correct feedback and guidance. Over all brilliant!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has made me look in detail about every aspect of business administration, which I think is an amazing way to get people interested. My professional skill set has been boosted thanks to this and I would recommend and apprenticeship to everyone!

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have supported COVID-19 volunteering for DE&S. I have spoken at 2 events about my apprenticeship and my personal life. I have recently started Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Defence Equipment & Support to a friend?
  • No


  • 9b. Why?
  • The level of support and guidance offered by the DE&S really passed my expectation. I was welcomed with open arms and was really looked after. The work and course work were always relevant to each other which I found really helpful.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Defence Equipment & Support?
  • 1. Don’t be scared to ask questions. Everybody is really friendly and always happy to support you. 2. Really push yourself. I found putting myself forward for tasks I wouldn’t usually do really fun and I was able to meet amazing people doing it.
