  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I run reports weekly. I check, request approval and release invoices for different project within the business unit that I work in. I also work closely with my placement manager to ensure that my hour and training requirements are fulfilled for my apprenticeship. I post journals and send them for approval.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills, namely communication and leadership as well as others. These two were main issues before I started my apprenticeship and that I wanted to improve on. I do regular internal finance trainings as well as doing external trainings for my accounting qualification. I have also done development days.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Even though it is a rotational programme and for the first year I have been working from home, my team have been very helpful and able to form relationships with me. I am constantly intellectually stimulated as I am always being taught new things. I am invited to watch, question tasks carried out by them also.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very structured in that the support network is very strong, from my line and placement manager to a talent coach awarded by my training provider. This ensures I am kept on track and that I can get help whenever I require it. I have a generous study day allowance.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from my employer. Whenever I have any queries I am able to get them answered and my manager has been instrumental in helping the transition from school to the workplace. My manager reassures me and sets ups bi-weekly meetings in order to ensure that my targets are being met.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provide as they provide a talent coach whom I have meetings with every 6 weeks. This helps me to keep on track with my studies, apprenticeship hours etc. This is very good and keeps me updated with any changes and or anything I need to know

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The content in the qualification that I am studying is being shadowed in work that I do and work that my team members do that they allow me to shadow, question and sometimes assist with. My talent coach also helps to guide me through the qualification which provides great support.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many events and activities that vary from organisation wide to just smaller teams. One is a team activity targeted to help all team members increase their step count at least one day a week. This is important because as we are all working from home it may be difficult to seperate ourselves from the desk.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Siemens have offered great support and benefits to me. They encourage me to look toward the future which is very fitting considering the nature of the firm. Siemens is such a large organisation that there is always someone somewhere who is able to teach you something new. Siemens is always innovative and encourages its employees to be the same.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • I would encourage applicant to keep up to date with current Siemens ventures. I would also encourage them to not overthink assessment centers and just be yourself. The whole application is not as daunting as one may think and is really an opportunity for applicants and Siemens to see if they suit.
