  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is an apprentice site manager, daily tasks perimeter checks and road sign checks each morning, prepare workers for inductions, manage some works at work, take photos, check works are being done correctly

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I keep a notebook with photos of various things around site and write notes next to them explaining what they are. I have learnt new terms and words. learnt about bams health and safety procedures

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the block release set up as I am then able to focus on college fully without having to think about work. The college is fantastic with amazing tutors. At work I would like to be more busy as I should be getting more out of work.

  • The college aspect is very well organised and structured however at work there could be more of a link with college

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • when I ask for support I receive support however certain members of the team can be unapproachable and make you feel like its wrong to ask for support. But bam as a whole keep in touch with me and the majority of people will support me

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • lots of support I could not ask for more they are all very helpful and my assessor is wonderful

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I learn a lot at college that I can then relate to work and as the lecturers have construction backgrounds its easy for them to make sense of things to me

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes but at the moment with covid 19 these are very limited

  • Yes

  • Lots of support great established company and good setup with the balance of college and work


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Make yourself heard and stand out from the crowd individuality is key
