  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my overview is that day to day i am on the phone with customers helping them with their policy to make any changes i need too to resolve their issue. occasionally a weekly basis i have 3 1/2 hours of apprentership study time in which i use to go through the criteria of which i will be tested at end of apprentership.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • in regards to the programme i feel as though it is not completely set up and there is a lot of areas of improvement due to the lack of support and the pressure of which you receive as well as the way feedback is contrasted (for example its not constructive critism it is just like getting told off)

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • in all honestly there is no organisation or structure there will be some weeks in which you have no time for studying as well as a lack of huddles we are meant to have weekly meetings and we sometimes wont have one for 3 weeks. as well as the support system which in y opinion isn't there

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • in my opinion i do not feel as if there is any support from my employer i have mental health issues and i have felt at times i have been told to get on with it as well as not having a lot of support in day to day things. especially with my anxiety if and when ive had a panic attack i haven't felt as if ive been given alot of time to feel okay or recuperate.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • i feel as though due to the training provider recently changing i can not comment as to whether they provide us with alot of support. in a month we haven't had a meeting and still haven't with the new person who covers us it as the planners and her havent arranged it

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • i dont feel as if it does due to the fact that they do not link in with each other at all they don't make any connections. with the apprentership the context is just over a vague unstructured area and in my role it is more customer basis not insurance market.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • as i am permeant working from home i do not think there is any extra-curricular activities to get involved in, with in my role there isn't any situations of any kind of community or anything outside of working hours but it is something of which they can work on over time

  • 9a. Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • in overview it is a combination of everything above. the support isn't completely there, it seems as if it is for others but personally i have felt as if there is no structure support and a lack of separtion between days off and work, personal life and work . they request for you to have emails on your phone, so when your on a day off your bombarded with emails from work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • mine would be that the description at application stage and training is not what it is made out to be they sugar coat it massively and i would also say the hours can be strenuous and make you struggle with the personal work life it makes things difficult on your personal wellbeing my mental well being has also been affected while working with this job.
