  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves paying invoices on behalf of policyholders to agents around the world who provide assistance to us and our policyholders. I am also responsible for resolving queries relating to open claims and disputes between facilities and our policyholders.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my skills on how to speak to people professionally over the phone, how to resolve queries in a swift and concise manner and how to deal with people who are angry or upset to reach a satisfactory conclusion for both parties

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am currently enjoying my apprenticeship programme as I am able to develop new skills and learn valuable topics that will benefit me in my career. I am being offered constant support as and when I need it and given tutoring in many ways

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well organised, with weekly seminars and an updated schedule. I am also in constant contact with a skills coach who provides support

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am receiving great support from my employer. I am having monthly one to one sessions with my manager to discuss my progress and plan for the following month. I am also given 20% off the job learning, meaning I have one day off a week to study

  • As previously stated, I have weekly seminars which are recorded and emailed to me, and contact with a skills coach via email and a call every 6 weeks

  • I feel it allows me to apply better accounting practices to the way I deal with payments and reconciliation with our account spreadsheets

  • There are quizzes etc. but because of social distancing events are very limited

  • Yes

  • It is a good company to work for that offers a decent amount of career progression in addition to offering qualifications


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • The only advice I would give to others applying would be to work hard, be open and honest and do what you can to further your career.
