Day-to day role here at KPMG is always different. This is great as I have learnt so much so far in my apprenticeship. I conduct meetings with clients and do audit work for different clients to understand their financial processes - this is really developed my communication, teamwork and analytical skills.
I have learnt many new skills such as presentation and communication skills. As well as this, I have developed many skills such as analytical and excel skills. My excel skills have developed hugely during my time in KPMG so far. KPMG ensure to provide us with training which always helps.
I really enjoy the programme I am in. I have learnt so much for far and I really feel a lot more confident in expressing myself when on client calls and have truly developed my technical skills. As well as this, the people here always support you and make you feel really a part of a team|!
I would say that the programme is very structured. There is definitely a good balance between working and learning. So far the learning and exams have really helped my understanding when completing work tasks. Of course, hours get longer during the busy season but that is expected. Overall, it is a great learning experience.
I receive a great amount of support here at KPMG. Each apprentice has their own buddy - to ask general questions to, and Performance Manager - again always there to help with regards to work and exams and a Performance Leader. They help us, apprentices, to improve and develop in our careers.
Us apprentices have something called a BPP hub - and this is where we are assigned steps/ short tests to help build our knowledge in preparation for exams. These have been a great help and there is a support team always there when you have any questions. We can ask our designated tutor for help as well.
BPP is a great place to prepare for exams and they have been extremely useful. They know all topics for exams have created questions and sample mock exams in preparation for our AAT exams. They have videos and notes to help aid our revision - which is great to cater to all types of learners.
Although I have only been working from home there has been a plethora of opportunities to network, build skills and talk in general. So far I have attended many social events that occur every Friday where our department comes together to just play games. I took part in a Christmas secret santa last year as well!
Yes
KPMG is a great firm to be a part of. They have truly made working from home very easy to adjust with and although we are missing out on talking face to face - KPMG understands and has been great in making our transition smooth. I have learnt a lot and it has been great.
I would say to do your research - really understand to see which firm suits you best. See each firm's values and see your own values. This helps you make a better decision and help make a decision you will enjoy. Always be prepared and take all outcomes as learning experiences. Also Good luck!
