Day to day I will typically assist members of the corporation tax team with queries regarding our client accounts with HMRC, or with help setting up engagment of clients. Additionally, sometimes i will attend client calls where my responsibility is to take minutes.
Yes i am level 3 AAT qualified and working towards level 4 AAT. I am internally risk trained and have completed courses such as Audit Foundations. Additionally, i have improved my communication skills and confidence massively and also strengthened my resilience when being faced with problems or difficult tasks.
I enjoy my work day to day and generally everyone on my team is great. I think the best thing about KPMG is the company culture and the people that work there. My apprenticeship meets my expectations and I probably enjoy some parts more than others.
My programme is well organised and we get an adequate amount of time for on the job learning and training. I have monthly support meetings with my perfomance manager and this helps me keep organised with deadlines etc. I think task delegation is good and there are always tasks avaliable.
I receive quite a lot of support from my employer. Notably during the covid-19 crisis they have been very supportive and when someone in my household contracted covid the team were very supportive and i felt grateful to have a job. My performance manager is also very caring.
When working towards qualifications, the tutors will typically give us there emails and always tell us to reach out if there is an issue or if we have any questions. BPP also have the BPP hub online portal which is a very useful tool. I enjoy college.
I feel like I have definitley applied what i have learnt in college in my day to day role. Most notably when i worked in audit i put theory in practice when looking at financial statements etc. I definitley know more about my role too from training.
There are lots of social events at the firm, even in lockdown there are lots of virtual events such as lunch time yoga or HIIT classes. Additionally of a friday there are virtual social events after work asif we were in the office.
Yes
I would highly recommend KPMG as the benefits to working at a big 4 accountancy firm are unmatched and I believe that KPMG has the best company culture. I have throughly enjoyed my apprenticeship so far and plan on having a long and successful career at the firm
Advice I would give to people looking to apply to KPMG would be to have confidence in yourself, keep up with public affairs and know what you want in life. You have got to present yourself as ambitious however ensure that you are true to yourself.
