Content Editor Review

I manage content and pages for the NatWest public web team. This could be creating ad banners, blog pages or editing and updating existing content. I work with a team of content managers on the AEM platform, as well as stakeholders around the business, to create and update their content.

Before this role I had not used AEM before, so that was a new skill. I have previous experience managing and creating content, as well as using general content management systems. I have learnt a lot about governance and the world of banking, regulations, that kind of thing. I'm enjoying it.

I'm really enjoying learning on the side of my day to day job. The workshops are interesting, the tutor is knowledgeable and friendly, and everyone I've interacted with so far has been just as eager to learn as I am. If the course continues in this manner I'll be very happy.

The lessons themselves seem very well-structured, it is obvious what I need to do before and during each lesson. The only thing I would say is that in the lead-up to starting the programme, it was sometimes not clear what was mandatory for me to complete, but now I have a better idea.

NatWest are happy for me to block out a full day to attend my workshop and do the required reading for the next week's workshop. They have been very supportive in me taking additional time to attend meetings or presentations about the course too. I'm happy with the support they have shown.

So far I have only had two workshops, but the support has been very good. The tutor has been available to help if needed, and hee has also told us about his open door sessions on Thursdays, when we can drop in and ask any questions we need to. Very pleased.

As the course progresses I feel it will give me a much more rounded knowledge base for my role. I think it will allow me to explore the other roles and departments of NatWest if I wanted to, and will also help in day-to-day tasks, like writing HTML or using javascript, for example.

NatWest are quite keen on Wellbeing activities, and there are also Employee-Led Networks to join if I wanted to. They seem to have an enthusiastic and busy extra-curricular programme, and I've already joined a couple of the employee-led networks. As it's a large organisation, I'm hopeful there will be more in future.

NatWest seems like a company where you can be yourself, and also be supported in learning and growing in your skills. My colleagues are all very friendly, and even though we're all working remotely, it's been easy to fit into the team. I'm looking forward to all meeting in person.

It seems like if there is an area of the business you are interested in, it's possible to just go for it and see what you can learn. There will always be someone around to help, or show you what they do - and lots of different groups to join.
