  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves helping different members of my team with tasks. Because I rotate between various teams to gain as much experience and knowledge as possible, I am able to complete a wide variety of tasks. A large part of my role involves doing a lot of research and self-learning which comes in handy when exposed to projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The main skills I have developed during my time here were communication and organisation. These allowed me to voice my thoughts and find ways to get my point across to others. Technical ability has also been a focus of mine - a great way to develop it beyond the course requirements is to get involved in projects led by like-minded individuals.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. The main reason is because I get to talk to individuals that share the same interests. One other aspect is the fact that we're constantly exposed to work across our department, so gaining an understanding of how you fit in your role allows you to better communicate with others.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is fairly structured. I get one day a week to focus on my studies which could involve: self-study, coaching and training. We also get days dedicated to our course where we learn theory. The theory is then assessed through an exam format. We also have a mentor to support us in our teams in case we need help or want to find out more about the company's expectations, goals and culture.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager constantly makes sure all my academic and personal development needs are met. We have regular meetings in which we make sure growth is regular and we can voice concerns or get advice if needed. Everyone is willing to help and reaching out to others is really easy. Guidance is generally provided in the first weeks, however we can always reach out to people.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is very attentive and always available if I have any questions. A lot of information has been provided through documents and meetings to make sure we understand the course and expectations fully. Meetings are set where progress is reviewed regularly and we get recommendations on what could be improved.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The topics covered so far by my training provider have been crucial in making me understand the nature of the work. I am now able to understand the specifics of subjects mentioned and can accurately draw conclusions and anticipate problems. Overall, the information provided breaks the boundary between understanding and getting the work done, which in turn benefits everyone involved.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of things colleagues can get involved in such as charity, sports and ecologically motivated activities. Everyone in the company is encouraged to participate as these present a great opportunity to collaborate with people from other departments and further strengthen your soft skills. Overall, it's incredibly easy to get involved in extra-curricular activities and these opportunities arise spontaneously.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sage to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Sage to a friend because everyone is friendly and open minded. People value each other's strengths and are willing to share their experience in order to provide value. Work becomes really easy when individuals are willing to be transparent and share their opinions, thus having a positive long term impact of mindset and consistent results.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage?
  • I would encourage everyone to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses in order to be aware of where improvement can happen. Introspection plays an important part when it comes to growth. Determination and genuine interest in the apprenticeship you're applying for will show everyone not only who you are but also your future potential as a professional.
