  • Working on projects, repairs, training and other jobs with the Senior Automation engineer, working on job reports and working on college work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt a lot of new skills as to be an automation engineer you need to learn the technician side and the automation side. I have also been given the freedom to develop existing skills or learn skills that I want to work on.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is quite stressful due to COVID and college deadline being tight with the overload of work on top. The organisation of the program isn't great but the support is there.

  • It's organised but the structure is not suitable for automation engineering. It is more suited for automation technician.

  • My employer has been extremely supportive.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Not as much as we would like and more support with college overload of work would be useful. This is only because of COVID.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It gives us an understanding what an Automation Engineer does but the requirements is more aimed towards a Automation Technician that an Automation Engineer. The work place has been very supportive with my learning and have helped me understand the role a lot more.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • In the first year we were invited to do events but because of COVID we haven't been invited to get involved with any extra-curricular activities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are open minded and do care for their employees. I have been able to learn what I feel like I need for my career as well as being put on projects and leading projects in the near future.

  • Be enthusiastic and show that you're willing to learn!
