  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Human resource project manager for a improvement project, by ensuring that all HR aspects of any change is considered. Daily activities include liaising with country HR Directors, tracking weekly progress and assessing any changes within the project and their impact.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, improved financial skills, better understanding of the business and the contracts we run, managing upwards or others expectations, working on challenging and emotive tasks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Whilst challenging to maintain both my role and the aston programme I like that I can associate my learning to what I do at work and see the impact varies aspects such as strategy can have on the business

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As the first year there has been a few delays in assignments or changes to the planned teaching content, however the aston team have been more than supportive and have dealt with any kinks effectively

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Our employer is very supportive and checks in regularly to check on the challenges we face and how they can help improves them. However line managers understanding of the course at the beginning could be improved and they don't fully understand the requirement of the programme or its commitments.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Aston University course admin and programme leaders are always on hand to help us with anything we may need, especially with the challenges faced during the covid pandemic.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification does help me perform better at work as it give me a greater understanding of the whole picture of the business and not just the area I work in. This helps me think beyond my role and look at other potential business impacts.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within the company we have many networks that employees set up and run based on the needs of the group/ employees. There are also local sport teams that are set up by employees. These groups are continuing to grow and develop.

  • Yes

  • Babcock really wants its employees to develop and progress through their careers and do the company does their best to offer any training or developmental opportunities available.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Babcock?
  • Show how you really are and what you are passionate about, Babcock wants employees that are going to think outside of the box and look for a new way of doing things
