I work with my line manager to produce cost estimates, cost plans and reports. I also visit site to carry out valuations monthly. I attend project meetings and take notes to allow me to further understand the project and design information. Working in the office gives you a great social and networking life.
I have learnt how to measure and report construction works. I have developed my English/ inter-personal skills as I have to communicate both in person and on text/ email. My math's skills have improved as I spend time working on measures and project financing. I have learnt about the wider construction industry generally.
I really enjoy my programme. The uni learning coincides with what I learn in the workplace and this allows me to excel in both areas. The company are great and really supportive and I have begun to create a really strong network, even at such an early stage. Such a good option.
Very well structured. Uni provides a clear learning path and provides the lectures to help aid this and my company have a strong internal programme that provides support for both my uni learning and for when I will start my RICS chartership journey in September. I feel very well supported.
My employer provides a great structured programme which includes networking opportunities, extra CPD sessions and also apprenticeship development sessions and internal submissions that help to work alongside the other learning. Support is accessible at anytime and everyone is always happy to help. My manager is great as is the HR team/
I recieve ample support from my training provider. LSBU provide apprentice reviews which are helpful however I have only had 2 in my time at uni. I feel as though the majority of my support comes from my employer. Sometimes LSBU can be poor on communication and letting apprentices know what they need to do.
I feel as though I can directly link my year 2 studies to my work day-to-day. I didn't believe that my year 1 studies were very helpful but this year I have been able to relate a lot more of the content to my job role, it's very helpful.
My employer runs a NextGen programme which promotes networking for young professions so I have attended both virtual and in person events which has allowed me to expand my network. They have loads of sports teams and as well as this we spend a lot of time in team socials.
Yes
It's a really great company to develop you career in. The networking opportunities are excellent and you get to work on really prestigious projects. There is a great social side and the sports/ events are there to get involved in if you want to. they are very supportive with your studies.
Make sure your CV is professional and showcases you as a person. Include both your academic and social achievements and make sell yourself. It's great to be personable and friendly in your interview and showcase that you are open to networking and socializing as this will help you professionally.
