  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love it - it has helped support me in my day to day role and given me the technical ability to undertake new tasks. The content is interesting and undertaking coursework rather than exams is more beneficial to my style of working. My coach has made things super easy for to me to complete

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Emma has been amazing - guiding me through assessments each month and ticking off competences she has helped me see how I complete most of these in my daily job role. Completing the apprenticeship seemed like such a large task at the beginning but it has been broken down into management chunks

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • 20% off the job learning time agreed which gives me 1 day per week blocked out to focus on my learning. If I think I need some help in developing an area I can reach out to other areas of the business to ask for help or to be involved in a project or meetings

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • More than enough - as mentioned a couple of times Emma my coach has been super supportive. I have monthly catch ups with her where we are able to break down the skills, knowledge and behaviours and complete them with reflective statements or professional discussions. I feel accomplished in my course already and haven't reached the half way point

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it helps me completely in my new role! I am able to better attack tasks and apply my technical knowledge from my ACII part of the apprenticeship. In a recent piece of work I got great feedback from another area of the business. I feel much more confident in my new role from the work I have been undertaking in my apprenticeship

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am part of the WIMIN (Women in Manchester Insurance Institute) and also part of the CII Manchester IIM Events committee. Both of these allow me to network outside of my company. The WIMIN is soft skills development for women in a mainly male driven industry and the Events Committee plans events (hopefully post covid too)

  • 9a. Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Such a great place to work - great benefits and the chance to progress through the business and gain knowledge and confidence. Joining DLG is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel like they are a company for life. I have already recommended to friends to apply for roles at direct line

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • Be yourself! Direct line Group look at you as a person and teach you the technical stuff needed to do your role. They want people who can interact and put themselves in the customers shoes and come up with the best outcome for them, be innovative and market leading in their response
