  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have had in house training on Payroll, WTR and recruitment process. Enrolled onto Level 4 Apprenticeship in Hospitality, I have previously completed levels 2 (pass) and 3 (distinction) in Hospitality and Bronze Shooting Stars. I have recently crossed over to our sister site to assist with the training of a new Headhouse Keeper. I have learnt that working with a large hotel, it is good practice to ensure you have the right people in the right place and has allowed me to look into recruitment in more detail.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I completed levels 2 and 3 with a break in between, I am enjoying the course but struggle at times to fit in work, study and personal time. Long days at work and 2 days off doesn't allow much time to fit in study, beginning to organise my time to fit in all commitments required to fulfil the work needed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Everything is in place for my support, my manager/mentor is only a call or email away to answer any questions. Time is given for me to attend Webnair courses and 1-1 traing days with my Trainer. Any information I may need is guided to me so I can source the answers for myself.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All support needed is always provided, either by on line chats, emails, texts or phone calls. I am always aware of who to contact for support or any questions I require answering to fully understand what is required of me and my training programme. I have full understanding of how to access on line tools.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The content of the course is enhancing from the previous courses I've attended, it has helped refresh my knowledge and the further the course goes, it is allowing me to really develop myself within the business. Every day is different and the knowledge I am learning is allowing me to introduce a stronger leadership style and enhance my teams skill set. I am beginning to understand more about the business and I am looking forward to immersing myself more into the vision.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently due to the recent changes taking place within the world, no company events or outside programmes are taking place. I am keeping myself active by reading, walking and spending time with my family. Normally I would spend nights out having a meal with friends or family. I am keeping in touch with my network of friends and family via social media or telephone.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is an amazing company to work for, the benefits are incredible and the advantages of progression are available. I have been with the company for 7 years and not once has my passion for my job dropped or dipped. The values and vision of the business are clear and they take you on the journey, the opportunities are limitless.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • Look on line at available jobs and what may possible be of interest to you. Be yourself, prepare, research the company, have questions show interest. Be on time for interviews, smart dress code. The chance to progress and enhance your skills via in house programmes and training. I would like to have known all of this, instead of just looking at it as a job.
