I work night x2 night shifts per week. I provide suppers for the residents and help those that need it, to bed. I provide continence care throughout the night as well as 2 hourly checks on all residents. Inbetween all this, I also have several domestic duties to attend to, including washing clothes, mopping and and setting certain things up ready for the morning.
I have learnt how to handle, store and administer medications for the residents whom require it.
I enjoy it thoroughly as I enjoy learning about new things and also extending my existing knowledge.
It is well structured and throughout. The tasks given are evenly spaced, with enough time between, to ensure that I am not overloaded.
Due to working nights, I often don't see much of my manager, however, if any support is required, it is provided fully.
I have an unlimited amount of support from my personal tutor and cannot fault his effort and dedication what so ever.
It ensures that I have all the knowledge and skill necessary to perform my job to the highest standard.
Due to working nights, this isn't feasible for me.
Yes
The staff are great and all provide great, well rounded care for the residents.
Don't be afraid to ask any questions about anything that you feel the need to. If you are ever unsure of anything, then seek answers/help. We are a team and we all support and help each other.
