  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Dealing with non-standard underwriting referrals for home insurance polices. This includes complaints handling and fraud investigations. Supporting call centre agents with technical underwriting queries as well as authorising requests that require a higher licence approval after risk assessment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes - have acquired a deeper knowledge/understanding from modules studied so far, for example accounting standards from M92 and contract law from M05. I have proactively applied these learnings to my day to day role to provide a better experience for all stakeholders I interact with.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the programme a lot as I am driven to better myself and this program allows myself to do achieve this.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well structured, from the introduction session to the monthly 1-2-1 meetings to help track/support progress. These are supported with portals to record learnings/achievements.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There was some confusion at the start of the program in terms of time allowed off for study time - but this has now been sorted and my Team Coach is extremely supportive of my development and attends meeting with myself and apprenticeship coach when invited.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a dedicated coach who provides a lot of support when required and is extremely knowledgeable in their field. They make themselves available all the time - not just during monthly meetings.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • By linking in learnings and setting bespoke assignments with my current role - the training provider has integrated my learning to my role and this is evident in the feedback I have received from my peers.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are multiple extra-curricular activities being arranged in my workplace - however due to the pandemic all of them are currently online/virtual.

  • Yes

  • Great people to work with and whilst a challenging role - there are plenty of opportunities for progression/development if you have the drive.
