  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • From day to day I can go from online picking to leading the AM shift from 3am, ensuring home deliveries and picked and packed ready for the day and orders ahead. To an average stock shelf and date checking the store with reduce and waste on an evening with the possibility of cashing up and lock up. Whilst doing so keeping a good level of customer service and friendly being, what our business and small tight family friendly team prides it self upon.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I’ve learnt from Lifetime training and in particular Sue different perspectives within the customer experience wether it being in store, online from advertising and marketing or just by word of mouth. I’ve been reminded how the customer is the most important part within the organisation and we are there to serve them on a daily basis. How and when the customers journey and flow within store is disrupted and how as staff we can mitigate and resolve problems within store and just show and give really honest and good customer service which the business look good upon.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Within the foremost part of my training program with lifetime training and the time my tutor spends with myself alongside my full time hours is brilliant. In particular my contact time with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], & lifetime learning not only about the business but current events and increasing knowledgable timeline. I’ve found my time really enjoyable so far and can’t wait to further and complete the course with lifetime so far. Really really looking forward to the future

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the structure of my apprentership was clearly outlined in the initial visits and communications with my tutor. Further within the course I feel I lack support or reminders in getting around to do the tasks and complete the assignments on a weekly basis Lifetime trainings format or e-commerce is lacking in my view and I find the structure basis and not very engaging. Overall, the points of contact i gain from my tutor, is great however the platforms used u think could need with rethinking and updating.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I believe I haven’t received any support regarding my apprentership directly or indirectly from my employer asides from only recently 3/4 months in getting some allocated protected time and pay to complete the apprentership. Unless i mention I believe my employee wouldn’t even realise I’m on the course, and believe their financial gain out of it is better than mine. Overall, I receive no support from Iceland regarding my apprentership at the present time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I believe my tutor, gives me adequate Time to allow me to complete the modules and re-fresh them at our monthly meetings to go over and evaluate the key points from the course. I think the little support I receive is due to me not engaging in the apprentership on all levels and maybe allowing other distractions to get in the way before complete modules and tasks at hand. If these modules could be better formatted maybe I’d learn more from the experience

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Personally only Im a small percentage or way do I feel this current apprentership helps me to gain or improve myself and bettering the position I want in the organisation. On another hand though, some tasks are generic and not specific enough to take enlightenment gain from the time. Progress in my role would be the same for me regardless taking complete control over lockdown. Lastly, I think that more of an effort from the employer should be made to in order too comply with the school rules.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I believe the position I hold within the store as, Talking Shop Rep is currently the only social calendar event of the year due to the coronavirus. The role I play in being a talking shop rep allows to gain their open free opinion on the working environment. Furthermore,

  • 9a. Would you recommend Iceland to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • I just think like myslef I’m on a 7.5hr contract but breaching 40 hours weekly, this leaves a sore taste in my mouth as per my contact won’t be upgraded but how my holiday stay the same. I enjoy the family esk atmosphere and allow the direct community links with the shop reps in the immunity itself.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Iceland?
  • Prepare to work as many hours Planning by management is a poor task and I believe breaks and such which should be equal and fairs
