  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as part of the Recruitment team and support the recruitment consultants in advertising of their job vacancies. This can include ensuring they have job posting credits, access to cv databases, social media support and general queries. The role also involves managing and developing our social media and careers website as well as ensuring we adhere to the company EVP

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I've really enjoyed my programme so far as it has made me sit back and take time to think about situations, rather than relaxing. I've had a great level of support from the team I work in and my manager. The programme is giving me the confidence to try new things and not be afraid to put my knowledge to use.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I don't feel like the training provider of the programme did not make it completely clear what I had to do at the start of the programme. However, support from my team and my manager has helped me structure and progress with my programme. They have also allowed me to put some my newly gained knowledge into practice

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I love working for this company as the company really do care. This has been recent with the COVID-19 pandemic and the steps the business has taken to protect over 11,000 staff, keep us updated and motivated in a challenging time. The company culture is amazing and the people you work with really do make this company and have given its success.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider gives you as much or as little support that you need. My tutor from Babington is amazing and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. They really do want to help you succeed and complete your programme and this has been shown through the level of support my tutor has provided me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is giving me confidence in my day to day role. It has allowed me to step back and think about situations and take time to think about the overall objective before starting any work. It has also reminded me how important it is to evaluate a project and take the learning forward

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many activities to get involved in. This does change from department to department and you are also able to set up your own events with the team you work in. The culture at DLG is amazing and the people always make you feel supported and that you matter in the business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Direct Line to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The culture and the people are amazing at Direct Line Group. You are really listened to and you have a voice in the business. You can shape the way we do things through suggestions in our Idea lab initiative. You are supported through development, however, you have to drive this yourself and you have to show commitment. We have some great mental health support, we celebrate diversity, the people care about each other as well as local communities and charities. This is a great company full of great people.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Direct Line?
  • Be yourself, show people what you are passionate about and what you want to get out of the role as well as what you can bring. We are all about caring for our customer and doing the right thing. You do have to work hard here and drive your own development and success but you are rewarded amazingly. This is a great company, with great people.
