  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a daily basis I mainly print, scan and copy documents for internal customers. This involves me engaging with my internal clients and asking them what is to be done. Also, I use systems everyday to save the scanned documents onto for Partners or Solicitors. I also cover reception and mail at times when people are off sick or are on holiday.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt new IT skills such as new systems, how to use a calendar to plan work tasks and how to save my work to other folders if needed. I have developed my communication skills as I am constantly speaking to internal clients about jobs I am doing for them. I have improved my greeting and welcoming skills as well when I have been on reception as I greet clients to a high standard.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme very well. This is due to the fact that it is challenging to me which I enjoy as I have goals and objectives to be completed which makes me work hard therefore I enjoy it more. Also I am doing units which I have a real interest in and I am enjoying doing background knowledge on these units.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is organised and structured very well. This is because my assessor sets me tasks with certain dates so that I know how to plan my whole work load so that I can complete the task by that certain date. My assessor also gives me dates in advance for when she wants to see me to check up on me which gives me a good enough time to prepare for her coming in.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer gives me all the support I can ask for. If I have any questions or need support about my apprenticeship then I know I can turn to my manager and ask her for help. She will never turn me away and will always welcome my questions and she will ask them to her best of her ability.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider gives me the right advice and support when I am working towards my qualification. This is because if I have a question, I know that I can give my assessor an email and she will reply within a day. This helps me as if I am struggling about my qualification then I know that I can overcome the struggle quickly.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role at DWF very well. This is because it has got me communicating to my colleagues a good amount which creates a better team and work environment. Also. I think about how to perform better and how to implement actions to perform better a lot more due to having to do this for my qualification.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • DWF have a lot of extra-curricular activities that anyone who work there can get involved. They have a sports team like rugby and they invite people to train for running events. Also, DWF have some social activities where one Friday every couple of months they invite all Edinburgh DWF employees to come and chill so that they can talk about work and other interesting subjects.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend DWF to a friend as it is a friendly and welcoming place of work. Once in the business, there are also numerous ways to progress so if someone is looking to advance in the career ladder the DWF is a good place to work. Also, everyone supports each other and helps each other when needed so if someone new joined the business they would feel included straight away.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DWF Law LLP?
  • One tip or advice I would give to others applying to DWF is to be there selves. This is because DWF is welcoming to all people and have a friendly welcoming nature as long as that someone is always true to themselves. One more tip or advice is to show past achievements as one of DWF's value are to aim high so if that someone shows past achievements then it shows DWF that the person is a high achiever and has the belief to do well which will translate into DWF.
