  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a business specialist in branch. I deal with any business customers under a turnover of £2 Million and with any lending requirements under £30,000. I Open account, provide lending and help with any other general queries required (Internet banking etc).

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skulls, including dealing with customer, learning about business and different business entities, understanding lending and why it helps our customers and also how to manage my time better and deal with difficult situations.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme, it is an amazing opportunity and I feel so privileged and thankful to HSBC to have this job role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have to admit the actual apprenticeship isn't particularly well organised or structured as we rarely know what is going on and don't often see our apprenticeship provider's tutor who is assigned to assist us.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do receive a great amount of support from my Line manager and team which has helped me massively and I'm very grateful for this.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't receive much support from the apprenticeship training provider unfortunately.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The Cert BB&C exam has been very valuable for my role and a great qualification to have however the training provider hasn't supported us much throughout this.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are professional networking events, customer events, team meetings/socials and volunteering days which is good, but no sports which would have been good to have.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company has a wonderful culture, I feel so included and welcome and have received an excellent amount of support. It's such a fantastic opportunity and I'm so grateful to have been taken on for this apprenticeship.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HSBC?
  • I would say to those applying to HSBC that they need to be sure they have a determined and hard working characteristic as it is a fast paced environment and customers need to be dealt with as soon as possible.
