  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice design engineer, i produce schemes and wiring diagrams for projects that are undertaken within the business. As well as this I am involved in a number of business improvement initiatives and help out in other departments when the help is needed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time I have been able to put into practise and develop my team working skills, as well as having the opportunity to gain and improve on my leadership skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working with others within the team and the wider business. Having worked for other big businesses in the past Siemens has exceeded my expectations in terms of the company culture.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program from start to finish has been very well structured, although there is room for improvement the overall experience has been very good. The company give time for study when it is needed whilst supporting you through the training and tasks that you undertake during the apprenticeship.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When working in a department there is always someone who is mentoring you and guiding you though any problems you may come across. There are regular reviews with your assigned manager and during those you can raise any concerns you may have for further support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When working towards the qualification the training provider makes sure that they are priority and make sure that you have completed them. If there are any issues that you come across they will make sure that they support you in getting them done to a high standard.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification received has worked well as a foundation for the tasks that i complete at work. Without this foundation it would be a lot harder to understand what is gong on and would take a lot longer to train up an apprentice.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • On a weekly basis as a business we go out for football and there are a lot of other extra-curricular activities that individuals can get involved with.

  • Yes

  • Siemens is a great place to work, when you get the jobs you don't just have a job, you have career for life.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • Make sure that when applying for the job, you 100% know the industry you are getting into and make sure that you are happy with the job role that you will be signing up to.
