  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I complete tasks given to me by my line manager which include increasing collaboration in the business. My role is part of the Service Management team and I assist in helping users with any IT related queries etc. I also look at feedback from our customers and come up with improvement plans for make them happier and ensure their needs are met.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills and have gained a white belt qualification for lean six sigma. I have also gained my ITIL 4 qualification which was an external training course for Service Management. I have learnt more about the IT sector and about incidents and problems that occur with services that are provided

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as Siemens is a great place to work in. All the teams are really friendly and helpful, there is always somebody to go to if I need any support with work or my apprenticeship modules. The company culture is great and they care a lot about well being and I like how flexible working hours are so I am able to work from home one day a week.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured well but took awhile to start up. My induction was good and I was provided with detailed descriptions of expectations. The training I have been given is good and I get tasks so that I can implement what I have learnt. I have a good mentor system as I can go to many people if I need help and my line manager is very supportive and provides regular coaching

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is very supportive and i can openly go to them about any queries I have and they support me well in my role by providing work that will develop me as a person as well as my skillset. Support is very accessible because there are many mentors i can do to. The general attitude is amazing as they truly care as a company

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have regular meeting with my training provider, and they are available to email if I have any queries. However they are sometimes unclear and quite confusing with their approach to things. I do not feel they are as supportive as they should be and don't provide many details about what I am meant to be doing. I tend to figure things out on my own mainly.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • What I learn in my apprenticeship, partly helps in my day-to-day role, however they are quite different. There are some overlaps in what I learn so i can apply this to my role but most the time they are quite different. From working through the modules I have found them to be helpful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are social events to attend which involve a meal or going out for drinks. These happen a few times a year. There are events that go on during the year such as charity sales etc. When I am not working I spend time relaxing and do sports in my own time.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Siemens to a friend as they are a great company to work for and provide many benefits to the job. As a company they do anything they can to make things easier if you are struggling and you will constantly learn new things each day whilst working at Siemens.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • The application process is straight forward but I would give the advice to read up about the company and what they do and what services they provide in that specific location. This will greatly help in the interview and to just smile as this make a huge difference. It is a friendly place with friendly people so this makes a difference. The onboarding process can be very overwhelming as there is so much to take on however it gets easier to understand as you get more experience.
