  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • A functional BA in an enhancement delivery team- looking at gathering and finalising requirements. helps facilitate the conversations between the different parties including clients and developers. responsible for the deliverables which are essentially supporting documentation that helps when the enhancements get pushed to development. on a day to day basis, this involves running SCRUM activities such as standups, retros and estimation sessions as well as driving conversations with the client

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • learnt how to drive conversations in order to get the most out of them. how to produce deliverables to a satisfactory standard. how to work efficiently in a team, helping to support others as well as my own tasks. developed new platform skills including Hybris BA certification which I am working towards completing.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as a whole as I believe the entire concept of an apprenticeship is very rewarding. to be able to learn new theory as well as having on the job training is very valuable. I enjoy having a big cohort as there are many people to lean on for different things. I like that we have dedicated support teams within consulting and areas (Deloitte digital) as well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • i think having to attend college every 7 weeks for only one week can be very disruptive. for modules that are two weeks long, they should be done together so instead of attending college for one week we should be there for 2. i think ADA need to better organise the structure of the wees and the content they are teaching as it seems very last minute at the moment. I feel ada also need to have more consistent staff working there as the staff turnover seems to be higher than usual which affects communication

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support we receive is great, we have both dedicated teams within Deloitte technology consulting - who look after all the apprentices, but we also have a smaller SLT within our areas of tech (mine is digital) who provide a closer more intimate network to raise any immediate concerns.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We do get support but i feel its not a good as it can be. I feel like even though we have dedicated skills coaches to help answer questions, they don't always give the best most applicable answers. i feel like the staff at ada need to communicate better on decisions as when we go to them for the support we receive different answers from different people which makes our lives much harder

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I don't think the content is always relevant, especially some of the mandatory modules like coding as those skills are only beneficial to a developer, not necessarily a BA. other modules like SDLC have been helpful for teaching us the foundations of the ways of working to apply to our role. At the start of year 2 when we got to choose our pathways, this is when the content became more relevant.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes, there are lots of sports teams and socials that are specific for the analysts. I have also taken on the role of coordinating the socials for the apprentices in the Digital area as it helps build a sense of community, where people can feel safe sharing their opinions and concerns

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The people! this company is great because you are constantly surrounded by employees at all grades who want and are willing to help you drive your career. They are great for supporting us both in our roles and at college and don't treat us any differently because we joined without a degree

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Try to do as much research as possible towards what area you want to join, as this will help you make the best possible decision. I would give advice about working hard and staying committed as the journey isn't always easy but that's what makes it so rewarding! in your first year i would encourage you to try as many roles as you can as this will give you lots of exposure.
