  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Operations Analyst - roles will vary by project (involvement with these can last any length from a few days to up to a year usually), however common roles include PMO support, update meetings with client stakeholders, drafting project deliverables, working with more senior members of staff to create deliverables for the client. Responsibility increases with experience and reputation. There is usually a high level of client and internal exposure on projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Project management skills have improved massively, including Powerpoint and excel skills. I have also gained a lot of industry knowledge through working with various clients, and gained experience in the key services offered in my area (Process improvement, cost transformation etc.). Part of my qualification included the completion of the CIMA Certificate level. I have now advanced on to the full CIMA qualification.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme itself has been great, there is a lot of support and training is provided in all aspects of the role. Teams are always very supportive and happy to help as required. The company culture is very friendly and people are approachable. Overall it has been a great experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme starts with a month of internal training, where all the basics of the job are covered - once project work starts, each Analyst is provided with a 'people lead' to discuss progress and areas to work on. Any issues will be discussed and there will always be a chance to work on these before they escalate. The firm is not hierarchal, people are generally very collaborative in teams.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Deloitte offer a lot of support both through projects and generally on the job; managers are encouraged to check in with team members at least once a fortnight. Any issues can be discussed at this point. If you are not receiving the support you require on project, problems can be escalated to internal support structures.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support and service provided by BPP was poor - As a firm new joiners now complete qualifications with either the open university or ADA, as a result of ongoing poor communication and a lack of support. I would not recommend completing any training or qualification with BPP

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The CIMA qualification has been very beneficial however the qualification part of the qualification was run poorly; I feel like I would have gained much more if the training had been provided by another provider - this is not representative of Deloitte however. I learned almost everything through my colleagues; when talking to BPP and having catch up calls, they would frequently provide incorrect information and then go against what they had said previously.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of groups and clubs at Deloitte that can be found through our own internal networks - some of the groups include Deloitte Sikh society, Gadget society, Football league, annual ski trip and many more. On the Analyst schemes, there are also many socials/events funded by the firm, where all the Analysts can catch up

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The scheme has provided an outstanding start to my career, with all the support and training I have required. Senior staff actively listen to requests to work in certain areas of interest/ any other requests you may have, and if there are problems they are generally sorted fairly quickly. As such I would definitely recommend.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Do your research on the firm - answers specific to the firm will be received well. Throw everything you have into the assessment days/presentations, and try to take up any opportunities for networking events etc. If applying straight from school/uni, the firm can be fairly strict on grade requirements, but if there are special circumstances these are always considered.
