  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Depending on the project, I am carrying out roles as a BA (business analyst) which involves preparing slide decks, organising meetings, taking minutes/notes. I have also carried out a PMO role which involves chasing members of the team for documents that need to be collated for a meeting. My role is usually supporting a consultant/senior consultant.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Communication skills - how to work with members of the Deloitte team as well as 3rd party relations with clients. Powerpoint and spreadsheet skills - how to create slide decks or workbooks that are easy to read and easily convey relevant information Presentation skills - given plenty of opportunities to speak in front of a group

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the perks of working at such a huge firm because there are often socials where you can network informally and catch up with the friends you make along the way. In terms of work, it really does depend on the project as your team can either make or break your experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The working side is well structured. We are assigned to a project and expected to carry out the given roles with a lot of responsibility. In a way, this isn't really 'structured' - but it still works. The studying side of the program, in my experience is not as structured because the content we are learning doesn't seem to be relevant to my role (could just be the case with me though!)

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from the many different pastoral leaders we are assigned to. We are assigned a 'people lead' who you catch up with weekly/monthly (depending on how close you are to them) to talk about how you are finding the project you're on, or even personal.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my opinion, there is support if you need it but it isn't the most accessible. It is difficult to fit in time to receive support from my training qualification whilst I am away working on a project. The time I spend at college is taken by exam revision and assignments so it can be hard to fit in time to receive support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My role thus far has not been quite technical and therefore a lot of what I am learning and studying has not been directly relevant. What I have learnt is not usually at the forefront of my mind when I am working and I find that the key things I need to perform better, I am learning on the job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes Deloitte offer many extra-curricular activities and if you can't find what you're looking for, you can just start your own club! There are monthly social activities that consist of food and drinks. I would like to see more sports teams because that is something I enjoy doing.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Deloitte has a lot to offer in terms of personal and professional development. If you're unsure of where you want to go with your career, Deloitte is a great place to start because it offers you a range of experience whilst also allowing you to specialise in what you're good at and enjoy.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • For interviews - make sure you have researched the firm and the specific role you have applied for. Make sure to write down any questions you have because we are keen to hear from you too! Any experience can be useful so make the most out of what you have done.
