I coordinate the apprenticeship schemes within production as well as write and deliver training material to the workforce.
I have developed lots since working here as well as learnt about whole new areas that I would not have had the opportunity to understand elsewhere. Undertaking an apprenticeship as an Improvement Technician is a good example of this.
I have enjoyed the programme because it has forced me out of my comfort zone to look at and understand things I would have steered away from previously. I have been put into a mixed group of managers which has allowed me to develop new relationships and learn from people I may not have normally.
I am slightly bias because I have helped coordinate this programme! However, despite the challenges of moving from one training provider to another (not our fault) the group has stuck with it. A schedule of upcoming dates for training sessions is in place and I am confident that we will all pass.
I believe the support is there if you ask for it. Part of undertaking an apprenticeship is about being able to ask for help when you need it and the ability to present the facts to your manager to get the help you need.
My employer has allowed me time to learn and understand the content of the apprenticeship, I am fortunate enough to be given this flexibility.
Although I am only half way through, the content is so new and eye opening, I know it will inform my future working and problem solving. Part of my role is about understanding the needs of others and this in depth look into the world of production is vital for me to do that.
There is quite a big social scene here and things to get involved with if you want to like a football team! There are two great parties each year and plenty of charitable events to get stuck in to if you fancy it. There is no pressure.
Yes
I believe they offer a unique and rare blend of opportunities and benefits that you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. I believe people are treated fairly and with respect. I have been able to develop myself and grow better here than I have in other businesses through support from colleagues and guidance from Managers.
Be honest. Research the role you are applying for. Ask questions.
