  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • First and foremost I am an apprentice in Project Management, my current role is Project Control which looks at the smaller details such as estimating, scheduling, and risks/opportunities. One day a week I attend college to study for my degree.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've definitely developed my study skills. I've also had so many opportunities to network which has really improved my interpersonal skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love it! I love my job and the sector I work in. I could not be more enthusiastic about it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Really well structured. The team that manage the scheme are so efficient and organised and we know exactly what we're doing. College is also structured really well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A huge amount. I personally have had some mental health issues since starting the programme and I could not ask for more support really.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • It could be better. I have been off for quite a bit and I do find it hard to communicate with my tutors at times, especially when I don't see them. I find they are difficult to get a response out of.

    6/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Neutral. I feel that some things I learn can definitely be used in the workplace, and it just goes to reaffirm what I already know, but there hasn't been a huge amount of that.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There's lots of opportunities for all of these, sports events, lots of events at different sites, networking opportunities, it's just a question of taking advantage of them all.

    9/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They are an amazing employer. The pay is really good, you are also paid when you are off sick which decreases stress levels if you do happen to be off. They offer a huge amount of support if you are going through a hard time, and especially the apprenticeships they make sure you are safe and looked after and that you're coping well. The opportunities you get are second to none also.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Be enthusiastic about your role, and you will get the same amount out of it that you put in :)
